Mercury
bulb replacement and alignment
It is essential in fluorescence microscopy that mercury bulbs are
replaced after about 200 hours of use to ensure both optimum spectral
output and safety. Bulb alignment should also be checked periodically
in order to have even illumination across the field of view. We will
replace your bulb, show you proper alignment technique, and dispose
of the old bulb. $50 (not including replacement bulb)
Koehler illumination

Many problems with transmitted light (brightfield, phase, Nomarski
DIC) and fluorescence imaging result from misalignment. Each user
needs to know Koehler alignment, particularly with transmitted light
microscopy since it requires realignment of the light source each
time the sample or objective is changed. We will show you how to
do this alignment on your microscope. $200
Objective
lens cleaning
Lenses must be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure optimal performance.
Even with the best microscope and camera, you cannot capture a good
image with a dirty lens! We will thoroughly and carefully clean
the objectives on your scope. $50 for up to six objectives
Microscope
cleaning
Microscopes are costly investments that require regular maintenance,
and neglecting to do this can lead to poor image quality and damaged
equipment. With this service we take apart and clean the condenser,
clean the oil and dust from all of the optics, and inspect the instrument
and its performance. $50 per half hour. Most microscopes take one hour. Email us your microscope model for an estimate.
