Educational Program

A primary goal of the NIC@HMS is to provide training in basic and advanced light microscopy techniques.  The NIC@HMS is involved in graduate level courses available to students of Harvard Medical School.  In addition, the NIC@HMS offers 1-day workshop courses that are open to members of academic or other non-profit institutions at no charge. (For rates for commercial institutions, please contact Jennifer Waters).

The workshop courses are encouraged but NOT required for using the microscopes in the NIC@HMS. If you want to use the NIC@HMS microscopes, please fill out the online request for training. If you want to take a workshop course, fill out the online application for a course.

The NIC@HMS currently offers at least one workshop course per month. Courses are scheduled 2-3 weeks in advance.

WORKSHOP COURSE TOPICS:

We keep an ongoing waitlist for all courses. Click here for the ONLINE APPLICATION for a course or to be put on the wait list for future courses. If we cannot fill a course from the waitlist then we will advertise. To receive first notification of new courses, please join the NIC@HMS microscopy listserv.

We also teach several courses in the IDB nanocourse program, including Fluorescence Live Cell Imaging and Quantitative Microscopy. To receive nanocourse announcements, sign up for the IDB listserv.
