All users of the NIC@HMS who are being trained to use a microscope
for the first time will be charged a training fee. For training
on the basic imaging stations the charge is $100. For training on
any of the confocal, TIRF, or live cell imaging stations the charge
is $200. This one-time (per microscope) training fee is in addition
to any hourly rates that might apply to a particular user.
The Departments of Cell Biology, Systems Biology and BCMP subsidize use
of the equipment in the NIC@HMS for all members of these two departments,
therefore no fees will be charged to these individual users with
the exception of the one-time training fee.
Members of the other Basic Sciences Departments on the Harvard Medical
School Quadrangle will be charged $25 per half hour of scheduled
use of image acquisition equipment in the NIC@HMS. If the time scheduled
for use of the equipment is longer than the actual time the equipment
is used, fees will be assessed based on the scheduled time.
Harvard Medical School Affiliates will be charged $50 per half hour
of scheduled use of our Nikon 80i upright fluorescence microscope workstation. Affiliates will
be charged $100 per half hour of scheduled use of the Nikon C1 laser scanning
confocal. These two imaging stations
are currently the only stations available for use by Harvard Medical
School Affiliates.
The Departments of Cell Biology, Systems Biology and BCMP charge these
fees for training and use of the image acquisition stations in the
NIC@HMS to defray operating costs.
